VIRUS!!! - Highly Dangerous (Part - III)

Multi partite:

This type of virus behaves in two different forms and hence the name. They take the faces of Boot Sector virus and Program/File virus. So, they are capable of performing both these functions, viz., affecting the booting part of memory as well as the computer programs.

Apart from these, there are also other types of viruses in use. They engage themselves in destructing the system totally and are called as Worms and Trojan horses. Let us take a look at these.

Worm:

These worms duplicate our programs and store them in various places of memory. Nowadays, they come as attachments with e-mails and are automatically sent to multiple users.

Trojan horses:

This type of virus resides inside the system but does not cause much effect. They are programmed to cause problems on specific days. There is a virus called Friday 13th, which creates a problem only on that specific date. Otherwise, it remains silent.

Ways of using Antivirus Programs:

Here are some ways of efficient usage of Antivirus programs. Recent Antivirus software should be installed in the system which should be updated when new versions are released. This is because the old versions cannot track for the virus programs which are generated recently. Before we start our work in the system, it is necessary to scan with the installed Antivirus program. Automatic updates should be kept on so that the software automatically gets updated from the corresponding site. Nowadays, attachments with the virus can be detected while opening the mail itself and such a provision has come in most e-mail services. Downloaded attachments should be kept in a separate folder so that they do not disturb our work files in any way. Some of the well known Antivirus Softwares are McAfee, Norton, FSecure, Indculum, PcCillin, Internet Guard dog, etc. If we take proper care while transferring files between systems, then our data can be safe and secure. Let us follow these steps and safeguard our system from virus attacks!!
